An investigation has been launched following a spate of car thefts this morning after owners left their vehicles unattended but with the engines running in an
attempt to de-ice them.
Four cars were stolen from three different locations in Devon - all by 8.30am today. Two cars were stolen from private homes and two were taken from a garage forecourt.The public are now being warned not to leave their cars running while sat in the warmth of their homes.
Police received the first report at around 7am that a vehicle had been taken from Totnes Road in Newton Abbot.

Two unknown people were seen on the driveway when the five-door red VW T-Roc with registration WJ20 XUR was taken.
Police were then
contacted at about 8.10am to reports that a vehicle had been taken from a property in Tedburn St Mary.
