World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a method to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade you choose, it can increase the rarity of an item or mark Level, and also boost other stats.

Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a certain amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increases when it is upgraded. This is the sum of all of the perks that are leveled up (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly depending on the upgrader and what kind of upgrade you decide to do. This is due to how many perks must be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded.

The level of an item is a widely used measurement of power and can be found on all item tooltips. It is also used as a gating requirement when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is capped at a lower level). The average level of the item can be found in the character sheet.

The level of an item will allow players to compare the potency of gear when choosing to buy or sell. It's a good gauge of an item's worth and the amount of damage it will be able to deal. Comparing items from a vendor's stock can be done using the item's level.

The item level can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are several theories about how the item level calculation is made. One theory is that the level is a numerical value derived from a formula that determines the value of an item's stats are worth. It is based on the fact that different advantages are valued differently and that gems in the sockets increase the item's value. This process could result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl, which is usually quite close to Blizzard's real level of the item.

However, this isn't the only factor that determines the ilvl of an item, because the size of the area the item was dropped in could alter the value of its stats, for example by adding a level to its crit rating or haste rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

Item stats can determine the fate of an item upgrade for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in various ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the best." The base stats on a weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat modifications that are in turn increased by the player's skill.

Upgrades to an item may increase its stats. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. For instance, a gray or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas an item upgrading with rare levels will be upgraded multiple times with higher prices.

Affixes are a different method to change an item's stats. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes are used to provide items with extra damage or other special capabilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs), or to differentiate them by adding a name.

At present, all affixes can be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button using the arrows that circle. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold as well as items, which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other rerolling options.

In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may also choose which of the available stats they want to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However, all items will include at least one stat within the range, unless they are an exclusive item, or a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could be changed is the option to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or choose which stats to enhance. Similar to the base equipment, this would have to be done per item and the item comparison interface would not display all the possible stats at once.

imageItem Luck

The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the odds of finding items and the properties that are spawned from loot drops, and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade their gear earlier in the game. This is particularly useful in the early game, since players tend to prioritize defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chances of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading which increases with each item level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor and weapons come with a default Luck value of 40. These items can be improved by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to add another 40 luck or to boost the Luck of an item upgrader kit up to 140.

Additionally some items, such as the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be used to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items can be purchased in the shop, or they can be constructed using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items can be a costly process and not all upgrades will succeed. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to increase their success rate or prevent them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful.

imageWhen you Upgrade Item an item, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading the item, and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased so much, and the chance that an upgrade will fail cannot be greater than 100%..

The success of an can be affected by the luck of that item. All items have an overall success rate of 25%, and every item with Luck increases this chance by 5%.

It is important to note that upgrade item items are rendered above the inventory items therefore enchantment glints and other effects can be obscured by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
