Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
Item upgrade, commonly known as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment boosts a stat linearly.
Players can recycle up to six items at a time to gain an ability to gauge the level of each of the upgraded components. The cost of recycling items increases according to their rarity and level.
Upgrade components

The majority of upgrade components added to items cannot be removed or replaced without removing them, with the exception of legendary upgrades and equipment. However, if you have an unusable rune or glyph that hasn't yet been applied to your gear, you can move it to a different piece of equipment by utilizing the upgrade Glyphs context menu within the Glyphs panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.
You can remove a glyph by using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item on which the glyph is placed will be destroyed, however the upgraded item can be salvaged by removing the glyph fragments.

Rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button that alters the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to recycle. The level gauge is increased by recycling an item. The developers do not plan to introduce paid rerolls at this stage of the game's development. They are planning to add an ingredient that allows players to change their race in the near future.
Leveling
There are several ways to upgrade an item. The first is to increase the upgrade amount, which increases the upgrade value of any stat. The second is to increase the effect of an upgrade that increases the damage or heal of a specific stat. The base item can be upgraded to an advanced upgrade type. When this is done, the new item will maintain its iLevel, but will benefit from the upgrade effects of the upgraded type of item.
