imageWorld of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and damage from PvE.

If the template for upgrading a weapon ends in %, it will gain an additional 3% of the previous attack damage every time it is upgraded.

The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the current level of the item. The cost increases as the level of the item rises.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, armor, and weapons to give them a stat boost or to add an additional effect. These can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot for them; the item must have been at a minimum upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be used. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascended equipment, as well as some non-ascended items. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade can include a suffix or prefix, modifying the name of the item to which it is applied (for instancefor example "Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, allowing players to create stronger versions of that equipment with fewer Upgrade Crystals than is required to reach the same level of upgrade using normal methods.

A boost upgrade is a way to modify the attack or defense characteristics of a weapon or armor. These upgrades are available to be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. These upgrades can be purchased by purchasing them in the cash shop or obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.

The player is able to have a maximum of five boost upgrades at one time. Each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of the item will appear at the time of the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to keep improving their equipment, even if they're unsure of how much it will improve following a subsequent reset.

The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process could be costly, and there is a significant possibility that the item will become obsolete or even break when it fails; a failed upgrade will cause the destruction of Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items that can increase or even eliminate the chances of failure, as well as a few upgrades that give an additional benefit when they are inserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade items parts that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of all nodes in a radius around them as well as existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We recommend upgrading them as fast as possible up to 15 levels.

In the final game you'll find that the Best item upgrade way to enhance your gear is by placing Glyphs. These are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded to level 15 and give significant boosts to your power on the Paragon Board.

Glyphs, the sole upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and then replaced with no restrictions, are the most common. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and re-placed by using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you choose it in your inventory. You can replace it with a different Glyph with the same rank or higher rank, which will increase the value of the Glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools, and through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the various Glyphs as well as some rare glyphs that can be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

When you have the desired Glyphs then you have to put them on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus that will boost the stats of a particular set of nodes within a radius around the Glyph. It can be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats, based on the Glyph.

Glyphs will boost all nodes that are connected to them, so it is recommended to place Glyphs in strategic places on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For example that a Druid should try to position their Glyphs close to their primary damage points, but you should also think about placing them near crucial damage nodes as well.

Leveling

The item upgrade system allows players to increase the effectiveness of certain items by inserting upgraded components. This is also known as "upping". Each upgradeable item level upgrade has an amount that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items are able to be leveled up to a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires a different number of components to be reached and the cost of upgrading increase as the item is advanced in level.

Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or bought from NPCs. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns some Technology Points. These points can be used to leveling up an item. Once enough points are earned you'll be able to claim your upgrade and also receive the bonuses.

When a player upgrade a piece of equipment it will be replaced with a new item. The same armor will receive the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item comes with its own set of bonuses. This could be a disadvantage since the item may be more expensive even if you do not need it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, if the player has enough tokens to do this. This causes the item to be exchanged for a brand new one, which will have the level 1 base, and a totally different set of bonuses. This can be useful but it shouldn't be done often as it could waste resources.

Certain upgrades can boost their value and allow players to modify their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives a buff if the player repeatedly enters or exits the water. It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time increasing the max roll by a factor of 10. This item is extremely valuable in PvP. A properly rolled version could be worth as much as 50x the value of its unupgraded counterpart.

Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to upgrade the level of their available equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets over ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate currency and items to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase its base defense and weapon upgrades items increase their base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity.

All items can be upgraded a maximum of five times, with the exception of hero gear which can have eight upgrades. Every each time you upgrade an item it has a chance to fail--the rate of failure increases as you go over the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures will cause the item to return to its original state and the player having to spend additional materials than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.

If an item isn't upgraded the experience bar on its growth bar will reset to zero.image
