WoW Upgrades - The
Item UpgraderUpgrades give you boost in specific stats. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.
The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the
item Level upgrade will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.
You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.
Upgrades can cost more based on the
item upgrades level, however, they are always cheaper than buying new equipment. For example upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that can be used to improve the quality of weapons, tools, armor, and other accessories. They can be purchased by players from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display a preview of an item's next upgrade level in the event that there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades offer discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currencies.
Upgraders for items can be found in a variety of locations including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items available at the start of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require a variety of means, which is both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system was altered a bit, with some new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a specific item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less, even when they are part of an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is account-wide. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
When upgrading equipment in WoW players have a variety of options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.
The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and every rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the more complex one may require as many as 20 crests, based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulties to get lower-level gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an
item upgrades upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.
The use of these currencies isn't too complicated however, the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest ilvl possible for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests in a wise manner, as they have only one purpose. For instance, it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top gear you have available, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan to make. This is particularly applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
