Albums
The discography of the American rock group Toto includes 13 studio albums, four live albums, and a number of compilations. Toto has released original music as well as collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The group has won a number of Grammy Awards for their work.
Before the formation of Toto the band, members performed session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate, and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs' 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in the year 1976 following the collaboration.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album was criticized by critics for not having hit singles. In 1985, the group's lead singer Fergie Fredericksen left, and the band held auditions to find a new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the band recorded the album Fahrenheit in 1986.
In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by going through several demos and tapes from the past to release a special album called Toto XX. The album was well received by fans and the band embarked on a tour featuring former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
Shem Von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as the drummer during the tour for the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In the year 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included live recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the group.
