WoW Upgrades - The
item upgrading Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as useful for those with higher variance due to the requirement to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.
You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up to date.
Upgrades will cost more, based on the item level, however, they are always less expensive than purchasing new gear. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar
item upgrader mod from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from item upgraders NPCs in a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will display the item's next level of upgrade, if there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and the current
item upgrading level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.
A lot of locations offer upgraders for items, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and the chance to obtain a new recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an
Item upgrader kit upgrader at beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and several new features added. Once a player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is even if the items come from another set of equipment.
The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain achievement milestones.
Crests
Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific upgrades to the level of an item. Crests are a crucial component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment of a particular rank, and that each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated requires as many as 20 crests depending on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
Utilizing these new currencies isn't too complicated however, the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to get their gear up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another important change is that crests have one use and it's crucial to use them properly. It is
Best item upgrade to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The account-wide discount will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
