The Space Key is made from carbon fiber composite materials that Lamborghini took to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of an experiment. The carbon fiber was transformed into an original artwork when it returned to Earth. The physical element is inscribed with an NFT serial number, which is tied to the corresponding digital artwork with QR codes on the back.
NFTs, for those who are not familiar they are unique identifiers that are stored on a distributed ledger of the blockchain and connected to a digital asset like a photograph or video, song or any other kind of record. This allows owners to guarantee authenticity, scarcity, and trackability of tokens through the internet.
Working with NFT PRO which is a white-label NFT solution for companies, Lamborghini is taking this unique approach to art to a new level. In the coming weeks, Lamborghini will share details about the exciting project. This will include the names of the unknown artists and a schedule for auction.
The physical element of Space Key
After multiple social media posts that teased something space-themed the Italian supercar maker
lamborghini key replacement has entered the world of non-fungible (NFT) tokens through an exclusive initiative dubbed Space Key. The NFT was created in collaboration with an unknown artist and will be auctioned in just a few weeks. Its core is a piece composed of a high-tech carbon fibre composite material, which was sent to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of a study. Carbon fiber was 3D printed to form the base of every Space Key. Each Space Key is linked to an exclusive, digital artwork by way of an QR code. Only five Space Keys were produced.
NFTs are unique identifiers that can be stored on distributed ledgers such the Blockchain and linked to a digital asset such as images. It's a hot topic with those with more money than they have common sense. It was only a question of time before automakers decided to cash in.
Space Key consists of five units. It was constructed using a physical piece of carbon fiber composite that was shipped to the ISS in 2019. Each NFT will be linked with an exclusive digital artwork created by the same artist by using QR codes on the backside of the carbon fiber piece. In the coming weeks and days, more information will be revealed, including the name and digital artwork of the artist as well as how to purchase one of the five Space Keys.
The digital artwork
After weeks of posts on social media that hint at it, luxury car manufacturer Lamborghini has finally revealed its first non-fungible token (NFT) project. Called the Space Key, it consists of five items that unlock a unique digital art work NFT by a yet-to-be-identified artist. The "collectors' piece" was developed in collaboration with NFTPRO(tm) and is limited to only five units. It will be auctioned shortly.
The heart of every Space Key is a block made of the most advanced carbon fire composite material. It was sent to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of a research project. After returning to Earth it was imprinted with a QR code, which connects it to the digital element of the Space Key.
Each of the five Space Keys will feature a separate moment that occurs a few seconds apart as the Lamborghini Ultimae lifts off toward the stars. Each of the five images was filmed by photographer Fabian Oefner and contains over 600 million pixels.
Oefner used a balloon equipped with a camera to take each of the individual shots, that were then merged to create the final image. The result is an amazing out of the world image that reveals the beauty of the Earth and the futuristic, hyper-realistic picture of the car rising from it. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned off in the near future, but there is no specific date or location yet.
