item level upgrade upgrades (

Item upgrades are a common and essential way to boost the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can provide extra damage, AD or even affixes.
Often times however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade gear because of their requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a type of upgrade that can be used on weapons and armor items. They increase the effectiveness of the
item upgrades they're attached to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of the game and are available from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Additionally, they can be salvaged from items with upgrade components in them using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it can absorb. Upgrading a piece of armor to its highest upgrade level will boost its damage absorption. It is important to note that this will increase the weight of the armor, which means it must be more heavy.
There are several types of armor upgrades that are available in the game and they all have different effects. Certain upgrades give armor an additional number of health points, while others make it stronger and lighter. The type of armor upgrade that an item can get is indicated by the name of the upgrade, as shown in the table below.
Some upgrades also feature magic or a hybrid of magic and technology, which is shown by an "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Furthermore, some upgrades require charges to use, and are indicated by an "Charges" entry in the table below. These charges are either constantly updated or never expire, depending on the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest way to improve your armor. You can locate it by exploring and looting small chests. Titanium is more expensive however, it is available at the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be used on armor pieces that are of high-level. These upgrades can give players a significant improvements in stats and are definitely worth the investment.
A piece of armor upgraded to the highest upgrade level will significantly boost its defense however, the user must be aware that increasing its weight will dramatically reduce its speed and agility. Therefore, it is typically not recommended to upgrade the majority of armor pieces above +9, since the added defense is generally not worth the extra weight and power costs of the improvements required.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades allow players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. For instance an upgrade can increase the damage dealt by shotgun shells or the accuracy of the rifle sniper. Certain firearms have upgrades to improve their inherent characteristics. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and reduces the risk of the risk of overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).
The majority of upgrades for weapons require a whetblade, one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. They can be obtained by doing side quests, or killing a certain number of monsters or bosses, or by contacting the Weapon Upgrade NPC located in Central Flarine.
Upgrading a Weapon, Equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade cost of a set number of Bars. The more bars you need to complete an upgrade the higher the level. The cost of the upgrades will be lower if you have more than one of the upgrade materials.
In Chapter 2: Season 5, the way you upgrade your equipment and weapon sets has changed a bit. In the past you could search for an Upgrade Bench and pay a set number of Bars to upgrade your weapon or equipment to a higher level of rarity. You could continue doing this until you reached the max upgrade level of the equipment or weapon, following which upgrades would reset.
You can still do this, but the process is based on RNG and low on agency. Instead, you're better off going to stores and purchasing equipment that has low upgrade levels but excellent base scores and stat distributions. They will also have a chance at gaining you the highest tier perks and blessings.
Most players will want to prioritize weapon upgrades for the weapons they are most likely to use to help them level up quicker. Players should also upgrade the weapons their squadmates use to boost their strength. Shepard, for example should upgrade his M92F in order to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more effective when used in conjunction with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to boost the effectiveness of a skill or provide additional effects on weapons and armor. Jewelry crafting is a method of creating them. You combine gemstones with specific reagents on a jewelry table. The higher the grade of the gem, the greater the secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained around the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and occasionally by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.
The quality of a jewel can be improved by the Jeweler, with stages that vary from Crude to Royal. Based on the level of the jewel, it will provide a different stat boost when slotted into weapons, equipment and jewelry.
The Jeweler is able to create all kinds of gems, apart from the rare and legendary ones that require a certain level to get. Jewels can be replaced with another jewel without damaging the original. You can only replace the gem once within an
Best item upgrade of equipment.
The use of more jewels in the movement will make it feel smoother and is typically done to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. In addition to improving performance, the jewels create an area that is stronger than steel, so the repeated friction from pivots won't damage them as easily.
A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the appearance of your shields and weapons. These glyphs offer a small boost and can be exchanged, however they are not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded, like jewelry, at the Jeweler for gold and Scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be taken out and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components like traits or aegis cannot be exchanged and can only be recovered through an upgrade extractor or salvaging using Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage.
Trinkets
Trinkets can be used to give your character various small, but useful advantages. They can be acquired starting in the areas of starting as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, and through doing road interactions. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
The first trinket a player can unlock is the cloak. It gives a small but beneficial boost in speed of movement and the ability to escape. Then, they can acquire rings, amulets, and necklaces in the same way to how a player obtains weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with a slot for an upgrade that can be either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be used on any equipment. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced, and can only be used with certain trinkets.
These trinkets can provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't engaged in combat. This allows the hero to be more efficient while inactive. It can also make up for the lack of a good team or talent tree slots which would normally be filled by the hero's optimal stats.
A good guideline for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (
Best item upgrade-in-Slot) items that you will not replace in the near future, then any items with desirable stats, but less important than the iLevel of the item being upgraded.
