Choosing a Stroller That's Right For You
A stroller is an often collapsible four-wheeled chairlike carriage that small children are being pushed into. It's an excellent way to enjoy a leisurely walk or run.
Kidsland offers a variety of single and dual strollers. The Peg Perego PrimoViaggio 3-in-1 car seat/stroller is one of our top sellers.
How to Select a Stroller
Strollers are the best baby companions. They let parents easily transport their kids around the city, explore the great outdoors or stroll through crowded malls. It's important to choose the right stroller that suits your child and family. Think about where and how often you'll use the stroller to select one that is appropriate for you. Do you need it to travel on tough terrains and fit into a small car trunk, or navigate narrow doorways? Also, think about whether you'll want to take it on walks through the city or out in the woods. After you've chosen the kind of stroller and features you'd like, you can test drive various models.
Start with some laps around the parking lot to familiarize yourself with how it handles and maneuvers. If you'll be using it to run, test the wheels for wear and test out how well they roll over bumps and uneven sidewalks. Choose if you'd like a basket to store your essentials or a reclining chair for infants. Also, make sure the handlebars are an appropriate height for your stride and that there's enough space in the seat to hold a child your size.
If you're planning to have more children in the future you might think about a single stroller that could be converted into a double stroller or a stroller board for toddlers. Babylist parents tell us that one of their biggest regrets with strollers is not buying the convertible model when they had the chance.
If you intend to use the stroller during rainy or other bad weather, make sure that accessories such as sun umbrellas and rain covers can be put on quickly and easily. Don't forget safety. Make sure you have a five-point harness system that is easy to buckle and unlock as well as a safe seating position and sturdy brakes. Examine the hinges for any sharp edges or places where a finger might get stuck. Also, ensure that the stroller complies with local and state safety standards. Also, try it with your child to make sure that you're both at ease.
Strollers for One Child
You may only need a
single running stroller stroller if you have a single child. These strollers are usually smaller than full-sized models and have the same safety features that larger strollers have that include a large canopy that protects your baby from the sun and wind. These strollers are also more maneuverable and have fewer components to break.
If your child is in an infant car seat, a stroller with an infant carrier included could be a great option. These strollers feature sturdy frames that can be used to accommodate several seats or even a second infant car seat attached to the base. They're usually easier to use than convertible strollers or double strollers, and can cost less up front as well.
A stroller that's all-in-one is a great choice for older children. They typically come with large, spacious baskets that can hold your child's belongings and accommodate the majority of diaper bags. They're also easy to steer and narrow enough to fit through a bathroom stall. They can be folded up and stored in the back of a car's seat or closet for easy transportation.
If you're seeking a stroller that can adapt to your growing family, consider a convertible model. These strollers come with an aluminum frame that can hold up to two toddler seats or even an infant bassinet (carriers and adapters are sold separately). These strollers are typically more expensive than
single stroller for sale-seaters, but are a great investment if you want to take your kids on a short journey and can be adapted to seating. The UPPAbaby Vista V2 is our top choice for a top-quality convertible stroller with top features and can carry up to three kids comfortably (age-dependent).
Strollers for Two Children
A double stroller will assist you in transporting two children at a time when you have more than one. There are many different options available, including tandems, side-by-side strollers and wagons. Many of the dual-strollers we tested can accommodate the second child's seat or a third one if you add a piggybackboard (sold separately). Tandem strollers come with more options for different levels and ages than side-byside models however, they are typically larger in size and heavier in weight.
Parents of twins would like a double stroller that has the same seating arrangement as their children. They'll also require one that is able to accommodate two infant car seats simultaneously, which is something that only a few of our best-rated double strollers have. A tandem stroller is the
best lightweight single stroller for twins who are comparable in age or ability. However the seating layout depends on how far apart the twins are in their ages and which features they prefer.
In our tests, all the tandem strollers we tested were easy to maneuver and had a big turning radius. However, they didn't turn as smoothly as a single stroller in tight spaces and could be difficult to navigate around curbs. Most of the strollers we examined fit into most standard doors, but they may have a more narrow aisle than one stroller.
Some side-by-side strollers we tested could be used with a second toddler seat, however, they don't permit you to swap seats between the two this would be useful when your children are of different ages. The UPPAbaby Vista V2 Double is an exception to this rule, and it allows you to easily switch between double and single mode with its convertible frame.
Side-by-side strollers are by far the most popular style in our double stroller category and we've compared some of the most effective options on the market. Most come with plenty of storage space and permit you to keep both children in your sight. Some even have parent consoles, which can be useful in keeping track of your child's desires and needs. They are typically more expensive than a single stroller however some are priced at prices that are in line with or less than those of our best single strollers.
Strollers for Three Children
If you have three children (or one singleton and two older twins), you'll need a stroller that will accommodate all of them. This is a major purchase, so it's wise to shop around and look for a model that will suit your family's size, lifestyle and budget.
Try the Graco Ready2GrowLX triple
stroller single if you're looking for a stroller that will grow with your kids. It has a front bench seat designed to hold bassinets or infant car seats, as well as a rear seat that converts into a toddler seat when the child is 6 months old. The seat can be used as a standing platform for children in preschool and can be used with the tray for parents that comes with cup holders and storage compartments.
The Joovy Big Caboose is another fantastic triple stroller. It features two forward-facing, reclined car seats that will fit children up to 32 inches in height. You can also add the rear seat accessory to turn it into a triple tandem stroller with a third regular seat for your oldest child. This model is perfect for twins and siblings who are close in age. The older child will sit on the front seat, and the younger one will sit in the rear.
Many parents choose quad strollers which is essentially double stroller that has an additional seat in the back. While these models are not difficult to maneuver in tight spaces, they do offer more seating options than the standard double. The Foundations Trio Sport 4 Passenger Stroller is a good option. It's a bit pricey and has received a lot of praise from parents.
