Keyless Entry System

Smart keys are available on all lamborghini key replacement models. They are able to unlock and lock the doors and start the car and disarm the immobilizer without the requirement for an ordinary metal key. The way a smart key works is through an electronic transponder pill at the middle of the key which communicates with the car's computer on a ciphered signal when you are within five feet of the vehicle with the key ring or in your pocket.

The keys have the controller chip, which creates a 40-bit number each time the key's transmitter button is press. This code is sent to the receiver. The hopping/rolling code prevents the receiver and transmitter from detecting each others signals so the key will only be used on a single Lamborghini.

To duplicate a key equipped with this kind of electronic system, you require a special coder, which can be obtained only from a reputable locksmith or Lamborghini dealer. This is a costly equipment and is the main reason why the process of replicating a digital key is more expensive than cutting a traditional metal bladed car key.

Key Fob

The key fob contains small remote transmitters that communicates with the car's system via Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. It transmits a coded signal to an RFID chip embedded in the vehicle. The RFID chip then transmits the information back to the key fob. When the key fob activates the car, it will be able to detect the information transmitted by an RFID chip, and respond accordingly.

The fob could also have buttons to trigger other functions such as locking doors, unlocking them, activating the power sunroof or folding the sidemirrors with power. It can also start the engine and flash a light to let you know that it did so.

Fobs are simple to replace, so you can simply pick up replacements from an auto dealer or from a shop that sells them. You can also consult the owner's guide for instructions on how to replace the battery. In the majority of cases, it's an easy task that takes only a few minutes.

If your keys don't function, it's likely the ignition switch. This part is prone to wear and tear or damage that can cause it to malfunction. The ignition switch will not allow the vehicle to start, which could hinder your ability to drive. This is a risky situation, so it's important to take it seriously and fix it as soon as possible.

Remote Keyless System Receiver module

The receiver is an RF device that contains programming logic for RKE. It is situated below the lower instrument panel of the passenger, just below the glovebox's opening. The RF receiver is a radio transmitter that operates at 315 MHz and can decode and receive a data stream from the RKE key fob. The data stream is usually 64 to 128 bits long and is comprised of an intro, command code and rolling codes. The RF signal uses amplitude-shift keying to reduce the battery's consumption and to increase the transmission range.

If the user presses one of the function switches on the RKE key fob, it turns on mechanical actuators within the key fob which press a corresponding button on the RF receiver. This triggers a sequence signaling to send a message to the BCM to indicate that the button pressed was activated.

The BCM transmits a request to the RKE transmitter, which then transmits an RF radio coded signal to the vehicle in line with the code that is transmitted. The receiver can also store the transmitter codes, allowing up to four different remote keyless entries to be utilized at the same time. When the RF receiver is notified of a message from an unmatched transmitter it will chime signal that the command has been transmitted.

Diagnostics of a fault

Fault diagnosis is the method of identifying the problem in a system via the analysis of its components. The process of fault diagnosis is an essential element of the design process and can reduce the time needed to develop a product because it eliminates the necessity for a large amount of testing. It allows for rapid detection of flaws, and increases the reliability of systems. Fault diagnosis is important for high-speed systems in which failures can be costly.

Nowadays Lamborghini cars are often equipped with push to start ignition technology, also referred to as smart key. This allows you to start your car by pressing a button on the dash-board rather than inserting a traditional key into the ignition cylinder.
