Mesothelioma Asbestosis
Mesothelioma and asbestosis are triggered by exposure to
asbestos law. Both are long-term issues. Mesothelioma, a cancerous condition, is different from asbestosis.

Signs and symptoms
Mesothelioma is a cancer of the thin layer of tissue that surrounds organs. Exposure to

Asbestos is a class of mineral fibers that naturally occur and were previously used in a variety of different products, including insulation, brakes, shingles, and flooring. When asbestos is disturbed it releases tiny fibers into air. Inhaling these fibers can cause irritation to the lungs and stomach. First signs of pleural cancer include chest pain, trouble breathing and a cough. Fluid buildup may also occur in the abdomen (abdominal mesothelioma) or around the heart (pericardial mesothelioma).

A biopsy is a way for doctors to diagnose mesothelioma. They will examine the tissue for abnormal cells and identify the type of mesothelioma that is epithelioid, sarcomatoid or biphasic mesothelioma. Epithelioid is the most frequent type of mesothelioma, accounting for 70%. It responds best to treatment. Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma can be more difficult to treat and has a less favorable prognosis. Biphasic mesothelioma has both epithelioid and sarcomatoid cells and is found in 40% of patients. The early stages of the disease can be treated by surgery.
Diagnosis
The diagnosis of mesothelioma is made based on a combination of tests, including imaging scans and blood tests. The test results are used to determine if there are any mesothelioma tumors present and help doctors decide on the best treatment option for each patient.
The first step in diagnosing mesothelioma is to have a doctor to give the patient a physical examination and ask about their previous exposure to asbestos. People who have been exposed to asbestos likely are aware that they are at risk of developing lung problems, but often it takes years before any symptoms begin. Many patients with mesothelioma have been misdiagnosed as having lung cancer or pneumonia.
Inhalation of asbestos fibres can damage the organs and lungs. The damage is slow, and the first signs of mesothelioma usually not noticed until 20-60 years following exposure.

Doctors can also treat peritoneal cancer with chemotherapy or radiation therapy on its own or in conjunction with surgery. They can also administer chemotherapy before surgery or radiation, which is referred to as neoadjuvant therapy. They may also experiment with experimental treatments in clinical trials such as a novel drug that targets the cell cycle.
Prognosis
The prognosis of mesothelioma asbestosis can vary based on several factors. The type of cancer, its location and stage can all influence how the disease develops and the treatments that are utilized.
The mesothelioma type of a patient can be determined by an examination of a biopsy. During this procedure the small amount of tissue is removed from the area affected and examined under the microscope. A pathologist will check the biopsy for any signs of mesothelioma, and also look for other abnormalities in the tissues.
Some symptoms that could indicate mesothelioma of the pleura include chest pain, breathing difficulties and persistent coughing. Patients who suffer from these symptoms should seek medical care immediately.
