On Sunday, DailyMail.com published details drawn from the Pentagon's own investigations which describe how American commanders had intelligence of an imminent attack on the airport in August 2021.

But they were unable to act because they were relying on their sworn enemies, the Taliban, to secure the facility during a frantic evacuation.

Taylor Hoover, a 31-year-old Marine Corps staff sergeant, was among the 13 Americans and some 170 Afghans who died days later when a suicide bomber detonated his explosives.

'I think they could all be alive ...

every last life,' his father Darin Taylor told DailyMail.com.

'We didn't have to lose them the way that we did. We didn't have to lose our son and the other 12 that went with him.'

The attack was the bloodiest day for U.S. forces in Afghanistan in a decade.

It came as American forces ended their 20-year war in a scramble to meet Biden's September 11 deadline.

As they left, Afghan government forces melted away and JetBlack the Taliban raced through the country to seize the capital on August 15, 2021.

The details are set out in 'Kabul: The Untold Story of Biden's Fiasco and the American Warriors Who Fought to the End,' which is published by Center Street on Tuesday.

Authors Jerry Dunleavy and James Hasson reveal how intelligence channels were buzzing with warnings of an attack on the airport's Abbey Gate.

Twice commanders believed they had a chance to disrupt the ISIS-K terror group that was intent on causing bloodshed.

But the Taliban refused a request to raid a hotel that was a known staging post for the network's suicide bombers.

And at around the same time, superior officers vetoed a plan for a drone strike elsewhere because of the 'negative response' of the Taliban to an operation on their territory.

Taylor's father Darin said he was 'incredulous' at new details that suggest the attack could have been prevented and demanded that leaders be held to account for the 13 deaths
