Keyless Entry
Many of the newer models and some older models offer keyless entry, a feature that lets you unlock your car without having to touch the door handle or insert the key. Some of the most advanced systems come with remote keyless ignition (RKI) that can start your engine and activate ten other electronic devices.
These systems utilize radio waves that are released by your vehicle and picked up by the receiver within the key fob. When you place your hand on the door handle or press a button on the handle itself the key fob transmits its own signal, which is in sync with the one being broadcast by the vehicle's transmitter and the doors are then opened.
The most modern car keyless entry systems are integrated with smart technology, which allows you to manage them using a mobile app or a cloud for management. This helps you manage them if you have to allow guests or maintenance staff access to your buildings or vehicles.
These systems aren't without their flaws. Some of the most serious concerns are security. If your key is lost in the car when you are inside, it will no longer be able to transmit its signal, and you won't be able to unlock or start the vehicle. There are many manufacturers that have systems to warn you when the key is nearing running out, but they are not foolproof.
Transponder Keys
Transponder keys (also called chip keys) are among the most popular types of keys for cars. They function with an embedded microchip in the plastic head. The microchip transmits a low-level signal to the receiver inside your car that only matches up with the serial number that has been programmed into it by the manufacturer. This is done to prevent unauthorised copying of your key and to ensure that you only start your car.
These keys are more difficult to copy and are also less likely to be stolen. They are also more expensive than flat metal keys however, if you have an expert locksmith that knows how to program them specifically for your vehicle, they could save you money over the long term.
While they offer the security of but they are simple for children to play with and can cause harm. Mechanical Keys
