Function

The Bentley Mulsanne key features a button that opens the trunk and a second button which starts the car. It also has a button to turn on the parking break. The knob can be used to fold or unfold the mirrors when parking in a tight spot. This feature helps you get into and out of your vehicle.

Bentley's unique design is a reflection of the company's values which include exquisite craftsmanship engineering expertise and cutting-edge technologies. Over 4,000 employees work at its Crewe headquarters, responsible for the development, design, and production of Bentley automobiles. They apply their skills that have been handed through generations to current automotive technologies. This is a hallmark of British manufacturing at its best.

Personalisation

Bentley's Mulliner division lets customers design their car. The guests sit at a collection of images, referred to "mood stations" and pick a set of images ranging from scenic views to sporting events that inspire them. Every time a choice is made, the pattern that emerges is the model preference for color, style and design for the custom Bentley.

The resulting configuration is saved to individual R.F.I.D.-enabled key cards, which are presented to the guests in a custom-made key case. The keys can be fitted with Bentley Muliner Personalised welcome lamps that illuminate the path of the door opening with the owner's name or logo as they approach the vehicle.

Bentley estimates that it requires 500 man-hours to build and assemble a Mulsanne. The refusal to embrace modern technology is the key to this time-consuming effort. The Crewe factory workers don't employ a machine to place perfectly-matched cross stitched leather seats. Instead they do it by hand. And rather than letting the car's built-in sensors guide it into perpendicular and parallel parking spaces drivers must do it manually.

imageAt the event, Bentley showcased its Mulliner personalization capabilities by presenting an exclusive example that was the Mulsanne W.O. Edition, which pays homage to the founder William Osler Bentley. The 100 limited edition cars come with a key that displays an item from the 1930 8 Litre crankshaft.
