Candies provide nothing more than saturated fat which is responsible for building cholesterol. For each gram of fat you devour, you intake calories as many as 9. For a healthy, well balanced lifestyle, we need not more than 10% of calories from saturated fat of the total calories. For instance, if your calorie intake is 1,500, you need not exceed 150 calories or 17 grams of saturated fat. Since each sugar candy contains 11 grams or more saturated fat, you tend to over dose yourself with these calories which comprises of ingredients like butter, cooking oil, meat and dairy products. This may lead to increase in blood pressure and heart diseases.

We need energy to perform our daily chores and energy is calculated in calories. However, it doesn't mean that energy is the only element needed, our body requires nutrients like vitamins, minerals, fiber, proteins and carbohydrates to function appropriately. None of which, besides sugar (calories), are obtained from an attractive candy. Which is why candies are also known as "empty calories".

Today, we see an aggressive growth in health which leads to several disorders like: diabetes, hypertension, hyperactivity in children as young as 12 years. Studies have linked immunity suppression with excess sugar level. Studies indicate a 50% drop in the ability of white blood cells to engulf bacteria with the intake of sugar in the form of glucose, fructose and honey. Obesity is also one silent cruel consequences of sugar candy. High energy consumption with insufficient motion leads to accumulation of fat, making children as well as adults obese.



A healthy alternative
