Shannon Sharpe says Ja Morant's statement after his latest pistol-waving incident read like it was designed by ChatGPT and that he should expect the NBA to 'drop the hammer' on him.

Morant, 23, released a statement on Tuesday night taking accountability and vowing the work on himself, but he did not directly apologize.

In a passionate speech on Undisputed on Wednesday morning, an incredulous Sharpe said to co-host Skip Bayless: soundlex v2 Reviews 'Skip, I don't know if you've ever heard of ChatGPT.

'They explained it to me. You could say "write me a love letter"... and you can pass it off. It's AI generated. In order for an apology, it needs to be sincere and it needs to be in your words. Some of the wording needs to be in things you would say.

'It can't be all by a PR team or people are going to say it's disingenuous. Ja doesn't talk like this. Everyone is looking like "what"'?

'They're going to drop the hammer on him. Skip, they are going to punish him.

'I wish I could say he's going to get 16-24 games, but they're going to punish him. He didn't learn his lesson.'

Morant's statement said: 'I know I've disappointed a lot of people who have supported me.

'This is a journey and I recognize there is more work to do. My words may not mean much right now, but I take full accountability for my actions. I'm committed to continuing to work on myself.'

Meanwhile, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver spoke out Tuesday night and was visibly disappointed by the latest scandal involving Morant, which is only two months after he filmed himself waving a pistol in a Denver strip club.

Silver explained that he had believed Morant had understood the seriousness of the first incident and was therefore left in disbelief when the second clip surfaced at the weekend.

'Honestly, I was shocked when I saw this weekend — that video,' he told ESPN ahead of the NBA Draft Lottery Tuesday night.

'Now, we're in the process of investigating it. We'll figure out exactly what happened the best we can. Again, the video is grainy and all that, but I'm assuming the worst.'

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver admitted he was 'shocked' at the latest incident

Morant's incident from back in March showed him dancing topless in a strip club before lifting a gun to the side of his head.

'Commissioner Silver seemed genuinely, genuinely hurt,' Sharpe said.

'He had this young man in his office just two months ago and said he was trying to help him understand the harm he is doing to himself and the product, the NBA.

'Commissioner Silver is trying to give him the worst case scenario - you could have hurt someone, you could have maimed someone, you could have hurt yourself.'
