Keyless Entry
BMW Digital Key allows you to lock and unlock your vehicle by tapping your smartphone. To get started, simply download the app from the Apple Wallet or Google Play Store and follow the instructions on screen. Once you have connected your mobile phone compatible to your BMW Connected Account, you can share your account with up to five family members or friends who also use the app. When they accept your invitation,

Battery Replacement
If the batteries in your BMW fob are drained you might be wondering, "Can I change the battery on a BMW key fob?". The answer depends on the type you own. For instance, older diamond-shaped BMW key fobs aren't designed to have the batteries replaced. They are sealed with glue and prying off the backplate will likely cause some damage to the fob. However, newer fobs can have their batteries replaced by simply opening the fob and switching out the CR2450 or CR2032 battery.
You can remove the valet keys from the most popular smart key models (1 3, 5, 7 and X) by pressing the small tab. Then you can open the access port using the help of a screwdriver. The tab should reveal a small groove. The valet key can be removed by using the tool to pull the tab out and push it. Replace the battery with a brand new one and then put the cover back on.
You'll need a different approach for a Display key that has a touchscreen. The Display Key is water resistant but not as waterproof as the standard fob. You must be careful not to expose it too much moisture. It can survive a trip through the washer, but it's recommended to treat it as an iPhone.
