The L20 Ultra, like most robotic cleaners, makes use of a laser to scan your house and create maps. It is then able to navigate the rooms and be controlled by an app. The device is compatible with Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant.
Its navigation abilities are impressive, and it easily navigated around the furniture in my apartment. It got a lot of the dirt off my floors and left them squeaky clean. The mopping function was less effective, however - it did not completely remove the marks that were left on my kitchen, and was unable to remove the spill of coffee. The mopping function is very efficient in cleaning food spills and dust or drinks.
The robot's base can be connected to a tap so that it will automatically fill and drain its tanks. This feature is especially useful for those who live in a shared house and reduces the frequency maintenance. The mops are washed and rinsed in the docking station following every use, and can be washed up to 75 times before requiring replacement. You can modify the app to suit your needs. You can select a carpeted room and decide on a cleaning sequence and how often the cleaner returns to the docking station for mop pad cleaning.
It is quiet enough to be used while watching television. It can be quite loud in max suction mode, though, so it may have to be turned down when you are watching the program.
Easy to operate
The Dreame L30 Ultra has a very nice range of features that make it a powerful hands-free cleaning robot. It is very efficient in its ability to mop and vacuum floors. Its sophisticated navigation system helps it avoid obstacles and remain on track without getting stuck or confused. It can even recognize carpeting and return to its base station to detach its mops, which helps in keeping your carpets looking good.
It can also be controlled via voice commands, with Alexa, Siri and Google Assistant all letting you start, stop and pause it. While this is a great feature, the app provides much more functionality and is the best method to control it. It also comes with a built-in video camera that allows you to watch the robot move around your home.
As with many of the top robot vacuums it is quite loud when cleaning which makes it unsuitable for households with small pets or children. It comes with a silent mode, but it makes a lot of noise. It can be slow to move, taking up to half an hour to complete a circuit around my 20m2 living space that isn't surrounded by furniture or its massive box.
Apart from its speed and noise issues it is an impressive machine that does a great job of removing dirt and debris. It's great at tackling pet hair and other fine dust, but it struggled to get rid of the hard stains that were older than a day old. It can be confusing to use and set up, especially if your not tech-savvy.
The cost for running it is expensive, and could be up to $100 per year.
