Nespresso Lattissima Coffee Maker Review

The Lattissima is the next step in portable nespresso maker's one-touch brewing. It can brew espresso and lungo in under an hour, and can accept an array of capsules from the company.

imageThe machine can also be programmed to make the exact amount of drinks you want. This is an excellent feature for busy families.

Simple to use

This black Nespresso machine is simple in appearance, is simple to maintain and use. It is minimalist in its simple design and only one top-facing button that controls powering, rinsing brewing and much more. Take off the lid, put the capsule inside and press to begin the brewing. It quickly heats up and offers a variety of drinks including double espresso as well as 5- 8 or 18-ounce coffees. It comes with a steaming device to create a textured, cafe-like appearance to your drinks. We love the small design and simple interface but we found that this machine wasn't the same quality of espresso or coffee as some of the more expensive models. It's also not as easy to recycle the capsules like some other machines we tested. For these reasons, this Nespresso isn't the best choice for our side-by-side test.

Quick to brew

The nespresso Breville machine makes one cup of coffee in about 15 minutes. The heated water from a reservoir enters a pump that pierces the small holes in the top of the pod. The water then mixes with the ground coffee and drips into the cup. We tested the machine using Jones Brothers and Bestpresso capsules and it produced an extremely rich and delicious espresso with a slight nutty taste. We also tested whole, almond milk and 2% and found that they all performed well.

Easy to clean

It is essential to clean the Nespresso machine regularly, both inside and out. This helps to keep it functioning properly and ensures that it's safe to use. This can also enhance the taste of your coffee. You can use a variety of cleaners to clean the inside of a Nespresso, including vinegar. However, it's recommended to make use of a descaling solution instead, as vinegar can be harmful to your machine.

To clean your Nespresso, begin by removing all the pods and washing the drip tray and capsule container. Then, fill a sink or large bowl with warm water and add a few squirts dish soap. Let the drip tray and container soak in soapy water for Nespresso Breville a few minutes to loosen the gunk and stain. Rinse them off with hot water, then make use of a non-abrasive sponge cloth to scrub off any stains or residues. After scrubbing the drip tray and capsule containers clean them and allow them to dry completely before returning them to your machine.

imageAfter your machine has been cleaned then it's time to descale it. You can follow the directions in your user's manual to perform a specific procedure. Otherwise, you can create an DIY descaling solution by using white vinegar or citric acid. However, if you're using vinegar, be sure to make use of white nespresso coffee machine vinegar instead of apple or balsamic vinegar, since they are too harsh for this purpose.
