A car like the Continental GT W12 beckons as you approach it with its striking sculptural appeal and power through carefully planned lighting.

The Continental GT is the most sophisticated open-top Bentley ever designed. Its rear tonneau for example, showcased the biggest piece of dark-stained, book-matched Burr Walnut veneer ever applied to the production Bentley. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

Bentley is the most sought-after automotive brand in the world because of its bespoke design and craftsmanship. The company continues to push the boundaries using the most advanced technologies and craftsmanship. This includes the introduction of an electronic tilt-opening rear window sunroof and a crafted Apple iPad docking station.

A century after its founding, Bentley - now under sole Volkswagen ownership after years of conflict with BMW was able to celebrate its centennial in 2019. The marque planned a variety of special events and launches to commemorate the milestone event before the pandemic was declared a priority.

Design

Bentley is a renowned brand for its extravagant and luxurious automobiles and keys, but even keys are made to stand out. The Bentayga key is made from sterling silver and features an enormous 'B' design which lets everyone know that you're driving a Bentley. The key is also decorated with the years 1919 and 2019, to mark the company’s centenary.

The Mulsanne was revamped and redesigned by Bentley Mulliner to be the ultimate Grand Touring car. The rear seats are designed to provide passengers with the most comfortable and private experience. They were inspired by the luxurious private aircraft. The bespoke heating and ventilation system as well as the air conditioning system was designed to give every passenger the perfect climate control setting.

The Mulsanne features a twin turbocharged 6.75 litre W12 engine that produces 560bhp, and 479lb-ft of torque. This power is paired with a new suspension system that provides Bentley's trademark quiet ride.

In celebration of its Centenary, Bentley introduced a unique specification called the Centenary Specification for vehicles built in 2019. This includes contrast stitching and cross-stitching in Centenary Gold thread throughout the cabin. The Bentley Wings on the headrests and seats are stitched in Centenary Gold, adding to the sense of celebration. The Centenary Specification also includes a custom Bentley keycase to complete the Bentley experience.

Function

The bentley continental key programming Mulsanne key comes with an opening button for the trunk, and another button that turns on the car. The key also has a button to turn on the parking brake. There is a knob to fold and unfold the mirrors while parking in tight spaces. This feature makes it easier to get into and out of your vehicle.

Each key takes two days to make. The key is cut by hand, then shaped, stitched to seal, and polished to create a high-end result. It is small and sturdy and will fit the Bentley key perfectly. Its design is reminiscent of the Volkswagen Phaeton's massive car key, but it feels more substantial and premium.

Secure-A-Key is also available to protect against keyless entry theft. This device is inserted into the remote-control fob, and is disabled when the key isn't used for a few minutes. It stops thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices which can unlock and start the car.

Bentley's distinctive design reflects the company's values of fine craftsmanship, engineering expertise, and modern technology. Over 4,000 people work at its Crewe headquarters, which is responsible for the development, design and production of Bentley automobiles. These workers apply skills that have been passed through generations to the latest automotive technologies. This is the characteristic of British manufacturing at its finest.

Personalisation

Bentley's Mulliner division lets customers design their own car. Guests sit at a series of images, referred to "mood stations" and Bentley key fob select a series of images ranging from scenic views to sporting events that inspire them to design their own. Every time a choice is made, the pattern that emerges is the model, color and style preferences for the bespoke Bentley.

The configuration that is created is then loaded onto individual R.F.I.D.-enabled key cards which are presented to guests in a handmade key case. The keys can also be outfitted with bentley key fob Muliner Personalised Welcome Lamps that light up the door's opening path with the owner's name, or emblem as they approach the vehicle.

Bentley estimates that it requires 500 man-hours to build and assemble the Mulsanne. The key to this time-consuming effort is a deliberate refusal to embrace the latest technology. The Crewe factory workers do not utilize a machine for arranging perfectly-matched cross stitched leather seats. Instead they do it by hand. Instead of letting the car's built-in sensors guide it to perpendicular and parallel parking spaces the drivers must do it manually.

imageIn the course of the event, Bentley displayed its Mulliner personalization capabilities using one particular example - the Mulsanne W.O. Edition, which pays tribute to founder William Osler Bentley. The limited edition cars include keys that display the 1930 8 Litre crankshaft.
