iRobot Roomba 694
The Roomba by iRobot is a budget-friendly robot vacuum that works well on both floors that are unfinished and floor carpets with a low pile. It has a decent suction and can clean up most debris, though it isn't able to handle larger debris like sand or rice. It also does a decent job of removing pet hair, but it's not resistant to tangling like the top Roomba models such as the j7 or I6.
The Roomba 694 is easy to use. It features three buttons on the top cover. "Clean," which launches a cleaning session and 'Dock' that places it in its charging station and "Spot," which initiates a targeted cleaning. You can control it using an app for smartphones that lets you to schedule cycles, stop/start them and adjust settings. It can also be paired with smart home devices like Alexa or Google Assistant for voice-controlled operation.
This vacuum is slower than others, but it's still able to get into the most crevices and corners. It comes with a large dust bin, which is great to reduce the frequency at the frequency you have to empty it. It is compatible with digital mapping and virtual barriers which allow you to set the robot to avoid certain areas, or even stop cleaning completely to stop it from becoming stuck.
It's not the most effective for its price, but it's superior to other models. The Roborock E4 is more advanced than the Roomba 694 with superior cleaning efficiency on carpets with low and no pile. It also has a longer-lasting battery and a cleaner route. It is also more robust, has fewer components that require regular maintenance, costs less over its lifetime and charges faster than 694.
It is also worth considering other models within the iRobot range, including the v7 or the 981. The 981 and v7 are both more expensive but have significant improvement in cleaning efficiency, both on bare and low pile floors. They also have a bigger dirt compartment they charge faster, can move more easily, and are easier to pair up with smart home devices.
Shark RV1001AE IQ
This budget self-emptying robotic vacuum cleaner does a good job on carpets with a low pile and hard flooring. The combo brush can reach into corners and edges and it automatically increases suction when it detects carpet. It also does a good job of cleaning embedded dirt on carpets in the middle of the pile. The IQ's tiny footprint for docks and the self-emptying feature are nice touches. However, if you wish to change the floor levels on the map or set no-go zones you'll have manually reset it to do this, which can be a bit of an inconvenience.
The IQ app offers some advanced mapping and automated features, however it lacks no-go zones. These are only available on iRobot robots. The smart-pathing navigational system gives you greater maneuverability and its high-pile carpet cleaning mode cleans well, though it is prone to get caught up on rug tassels. Additionally, its iHome speaker lets you control the robot using voice commands.
During our tests, we observed that the IQ was able to handle pet hair effectively. It was able to get rid of a large amount of debris on floors that were not bare, and a fair amount of rug with a medium pile. It was less effective on shag carpets, as it struggled to get at dirt and dust embedded within the fibers. It was able to maneuver the legs of a chair, tiny spaces and even the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. It was slower on flooring that was not fully covered, but it recovered speed and was more efficient than the other robots that we evaluated.
The IQ is a better choice over the iRobot Roomba 694 for most applications. It has a larger dustbin and lasts longer on charge, and does a better job of moving itself over obstacles. It has a mopping tool that can clean up sticky messes. The iRobot is, on the other hand feels better built, has fewer components that require replacement or maintenance and
vacuum Mop incurs fewer ongoing costs, and can even create virtual no-go zones with its companion application. It is able to even resume a cleaning session from where it left off in case it runs out of battery before finishing the job. The iRobot can also be controlled using voice commands, which is a huge benefit for many users.
Eufy 11S
The RoboVac 11S robotic vacuum isn't among the most features-rich models, but it does offer excellent cleaning power for a low cost. It's designed for those who don't need a complicated mapping system or an app to control the device. This robot can last for up to an hour. It comes with an remote control, a cleaning tool and AC power adapter.
The 11S is slim and sleek, and features a tempered-glass upper deck that looks like polished aluminum. It's a nice stylistic departure from Roomba, Samsung, and Neato designs that are more practical and industrial.
The eufy11S did well in our tests at removing larger particles and fine dust from hard floors. It was unable to thoroughly clean high-pile and medium-pile carpets. It also has a tendency to hit furniture and people in its path however, it is able to detect obstacles with sensors. When it encounters them, it ceases to move and emits a loud beep so you can manually steer it around the obstacle and get it back to work.
Another fantastic feature of the eufy11S is its BoostIQ mode that allows you to set the robot to automatically adjust its suction power to match the floor type and the level of dirt. The remote control makes it simple to direct the 11S to your desired area.
Single Room Mode is a great option for those with small furniture in the space you want to vacuum. The eufy is capable of spending up to 30 minutes cleaning the area it is assigned.
Edge Cleaning is another option that limits the time that is spent on each area to just 20 minutes. This will increase battery life. This feature allows the eufy to move in a spiraling manner cleaning edges and corners.
