The business jumped on the hot luxury SUV bandwagon in the mid-'90s with the SLX. Unfortunately, the SLX was merely a rebadged version of an Isuzu SUV, and its quality did not match customers'expectations. 2024 Acura Integra's product line grew in the 1990s, however, the company struggled a bit.
Unlike the Civic Si, however, the Integra comes standard with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). At the top trim level, the Integra comes with a six-speed manual transmission as a no-cost option. The Acura Integra ses exactly the same 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that you will find underneath the hood of the Honda Civic Si. The manual Integra clocks in at 7.8 seconds to 60 mph, a disappointing result for an entry-level luxury car. Just like the Si, the Integra makes 200 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque.
The GS-R came exclusively with a particular close-ratio five-speed manual. A five-speed manual transmission was standard. The performance-oriented GS-R featured a 170-horsepower 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that was designed with VTEC. A four-speed automatic was optional. In road tests of the '98 Acura Integra GS-R, our editors found it to be well balanced in terms of being fun to operate a vehicle and easy to use on a regular basis.

Acura says the airbags lessen the danger of brain injuries and notes that Integra's aluminum hood features a unique design that distributes the force of an impact with a pedestrian's head to cut back injuries.
By mid-decade the NSX was gone, but Acura filled out its model lineup with the street-performance-oriented RDX compact crossover, the TSX wagon and the ZDX, a fastback-styled crossover that placed unique styling over practicality. Today Acura is still searching for its ideal niche but there's no denying the grade of Acura's vehicles, nor their appealing mix of performance, technology and value.
The Integra was replaced with the RSX sport coupe, and an all-new entry-level sport sedan called the TSX was introduced after that. An all-new SUV called the MDX debuted, sporting numerous family-friendly features, including a third-row seat. For the newest millennium, Acura revamped its product range. A complete redesign of its most widely used model, the midsize TL sedan, followed, as did a redesign of its flagship RL luxury sedan.

The "i" in i-VTEC represents intelligent VTEC, which employs VTC (Variable Timing Control) to advance or retard the intake cam timing in just a 50-degree range.
Several cars were entered in to the 2009 British Touring Car Championship season, and won the 2003 Asian Touring Car Series. The Integra and RSX have been popular in automobile racing. In 1992, the Integra was found in Formula One as a safety car at the Canadian Grand Prix. Realtime Racing used the Integra Type R and later the RSX Type S to compete in the SCCA World Challenge Touring car class for several years.
