Keys with plastic cases

First, find the right car keys for your car. If you need to, you can put in a plastic case to the key. These cases are specifically designed for smart key systems and offer excellent protection against damages. They are typically sealed on all sides, making them particularly resistant to scratches and bumps.

Certain BMW keys come with a touchscreen that can be used to control music, make phone calls, and much more. Although this type of key is quite advanced, it's best to treat it like an ordinary smartphone and keep it out of too much water. Water can harm the full-color display.

If your vehicle is equipped with a BMW Digital Key, you can share it with up to five family or friends members with a compatible iPhone. The app lets them lock and unlock the car as well as set driving limitations (such as a maximum radio volume or the speed limit for top speeds). This feature is available on most BMW models that are equipped with an NFC chip.

You'll require a valid driver's license and proof of ownership to register the new BMW. You may also be required to present your vehicle's registration or VIN number. It is not recommended to purchase a new BMW key from an auction or online store site. These keys are not backed by BMW and could be used to steal your vehicle.

It can be costly to replace the BMW key fob, particularly if it needs to be programmed by an expert dealer. However, there are a few things you could do to cut costs. First, check the owner's manual to determine what kind of battery your key fob requires. Many modern BMWs use a CR2032 battery, which is a common watch battery.

Keys with Light Buttons

When you think of BMW keys, you probably picture those clunky black rectangles with large square buttons. These were the standard key fobs that came with BMW cars in the '80s and '90s. The latest BMW models have a different type of key fob. These key fobs are comparable to credit cards and can unlock your car with your smartphone. They can also control your windows and open the trunk. Learn more about the hidden functions of these more modern BMW keys.

The older BMW keys only have one purpose, and that is to open the doors and start the engine. The latest bmw smart key key fobs have more functions, including memory hot keys that allow you to link your key fob with your contacts as well as navigation destinations and other settings. They can also be used to trigger the stop/start button on your car to save on fuel. The key fobs also have the safety feature that will shut off the engine if it is running for more than 15 minutes while the car is in a parking spot.

The BMW Digital Key allows your compatible iPhone or Android smartphone to act as the car's key fob. It uses ultra-wideband (UWB) technology to communicate with the car's system. The UWB transmitter is embedded in the key fob's remote headlight. This means that you won't accidently leave your vehicle running. This feature is fantastic to stop carbon monoxide being accumulated in your garage, or if you didn't lock the door after leaving your home.

You can also purchase an BMW Display Key that acts as a traditional key fob. It's a tiny display that can control your car's windows, doors and alarm system. It also controls the climate control preconditioning, BMW keys service requirements and BMW keys temperature. The BMW Display Key can also provide instructions in graphical format for complex parking maneuvers.

If you have a Comfort Access key, you must deactivate the previous key and then code the new key before using it. If you don't do this then the BMW may not recognize your key and will not start. In this situation you'll have to purchase an entirely new BMW key fob.

A folding key is a kind of BMW car keys that folds into itself to make it more compact. This makes it easier to carry around in your pocket or purse. It also keeps keys from being lost in your pocket or getting lost. Keys like these are usually used in older BMW models that do not have push button start buttons. These keys can be used to start and unlock the engine of your vehicle and also control certain features like the power windows and sunroof.

BMW's folding key system utilizes a pair LF (low-frequency 125 kHz), transmitting antennas on the exterior of the vehicle as well as inside the door handles. These antennas transmit the ID of the key to the PASE module when the key fob is close to the handle. If the key fob matches the vehicle's ID and is matched, it causes the door locks to open and the interior lights to turn on. If you want to use the BMW's folding keys feature, you'll have to activate it first on the iDrive menu, which is under'my car'. Then go to'vehicle setting' and select doors and key.

In contrast to traditional BMW key fobs, the latest BMW display keys have a small LCD color touchscreen that provides numerous useful functions, including the possibility to remotely start and lock your vehicle. You can also open your windows, open the sunroof and even disable the BMW's sensors by using these keys. They are more expensive than the standard BMW key fobs and could be damaged easily if exposed to water or dust.
