The Best Robot Hoover

imageThe best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are great features.

Examine your robot's brush regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them if needed. Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin at the bottom. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other top iRobot models (including the top pick) they employ smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature Carpet Boost, a feature that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in cleaning dog hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our top option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great option for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can work while you're at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad for a dry one in seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a powerful suction and an automatic vacuum cleaner bin for emptying. It's the Best robot vacuum cleaner UK robotic hoover for carpets, but it's not as good robot vacuum as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performing combination vacuum and mop utilizes advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it will learn the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.

It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could clean an entire home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on different floors and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks much like a Roomba unit than the boxy models from the competition. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has 100% in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with a simple mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's loud, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to fall asleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and look better. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however, it will cost you more and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine, similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and cleans and dry mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with the degree of dirt they tend to be.

If you have a larger home, it's worth selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to instruct the robot vacuum reviews on which part of your home needs to be cleaned using the app or voice control. If you have a lot of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. For families with busy schedules recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be extremely useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that is washable.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app has a range of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
