Lookout’s Tenant Support Workers (TSWs) provide a multi-faceted service that includes ongoing support and advocacy on behalf of the tenant with the goal to maximize positive outcomes. Tenants in transitional housing require additional supports before moving towards independent housing. TSWs work with each tenant to develop case plans that address tenant needs that may include: anxiety, trauma, mental health, addictions, and chronic illnesses. TSWs also assist tenants to create a community through activities and programs. TSWs also develop life and employability skills to assist tenants in reaching their long-term goals. Lookout manages three abstinence-based supportive housing programs: Dovercourt on the North Shore, and MacMillan House and Crawford Manor, both located in Surrey. Our abstinence-based homes are supportive housing and recovery programs which help tenants set and achieve goals that support being productive and responsible members in their community. Programming begins by identifying key issues and barriers to stability. Programming then continues by supporting residents through group activities, feelingcutelol.com life skill building, education and employment training, and addiction counselling.


Our goal is always to create an environment where our residents can develop the tools to avoid relapse, recognize the signs and potential triggers to relapse, be supported through minor relapses and eventually set larger goals of achieving stable, permanent housing. Housing is in a group setting so residents can develop and reinforce interpersonal relationships and sober living goals with additional supports and boundaries facilitated by our staff. Crawford Manor is a young adult stabilization and transitional living home which serves male youth aged 19-24. These individuals have current or recent mild to moderate substance use issues. Residents will interact in group settings and participate in onsite programs. The program is licensed under the British Columbia Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA). Lookout offers a holistic approach to help our residents overcome barriers prior to transitioning into appropriate housing or treatment. There are 11 private bedrooms within this duplex housing program.

Lookout’s Dovercourt Housing program is a 2nd stage recovery program helping residents sustain their goals of returning to society as productive and responsible individuals. Lookout’s Dovercourt House provides a program that focuses on residents becoming more accountable as they move to full societal re-entry. Applicants are to have completed a treatment program or be clean and sober for 90 days before entering the program. Lookout’s Dovercourt House provides shared accommodation for up to 20 residents with more than enough room for them to feel at home. There are 3 lounge areas with TVs, a group room, a visiting area, 2 kitchens and main dining area, Amazon Deals 16 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, complete laundry area, offices and in-house access to computers and telephones and a workshop area.

Macmillan House (formerly Foundation House) is an 11 bed sober living residential facility for men focusing on abstinence-based drugs and alcohol recovery. Applicants are to have completed a treatment program and be clean and sober for 30 days before entering the program. Staff assists residents to maintain their personal recovery goals and help them reintegrate into their community. Residents of Macmillan House are expected to comply with our high program standards and work toward their specific personalized goals. Macmillan House is a registered assisted living facility with the Ministry of Social Development. This entitles individuals on Income Assistance a reduced rental rate. Residents of Carr’s House are expected to comply with our high program standards and work toward their specific personalized goals. Carr’s House is a registered assisted living facility with the Fraser Health Authority.
