iRobot Vacuum and Mop Review

Contrary to other robot vacuums, this one isn't afraid of taking on the stairs. However, just like all vacuums and mops it could get blocked by debris such as the stray tennis shoes, ribbons or yarn, play jewelry or other objects that are loose.

You can use the iRobot Home app to label rooms and create zones that are not allowed to enter. It also lets you track the progress of your mops as well as battery status.

iRobot Combo j7+

The Combo J7+ is a part of iRobot's mop and robotic vacuum line-up, combining the robotic cleaner's smart mapping capabilities and the ability to deal with spills. It uses the same onboard acoustic sensors and iAdapt 2.0 navigation that is used by other Roomba options and maps your home 7x faster than previous models. It also allows you to set Keep Out Zones (for rooms which the robot should not enter) and Clean Zones (for rooms it should clean).

The most notable feature of the j7 is its robotic arm, which keeps the mop pad locked away when not in use and allows it to clean carpets or hard floors. In my testing it, the Combo J7+ was successful in avoiding spraying water on the rug. The robot backed away when it saw the rug, and didn't attempt to go over it, even though I moved the rug several times.

The arm comes with a 240mL tank that can be easily popped out and filled, so it's simpler to operate than mop pads found in other 2-in-1 robots. It uses iRobot PrevisionVision obstacle-avoidance technology that is more advanced than other systems of this kind.

iRobot Combo i5

It is designed to do mopping and vacuuming with the same machine, this is a top choice for multitaskers. The vacuuming is done by using a special bin that can accommodate up to 60 days of dust. According to iRobot it reduces dust that is released into the air. The i5+ comes with dual multi-surface rubber brushes as well as Power-Lifting suction to tackle dirt and dust, pet hair, and stains. Simply replace the Mopping Bin with a compatible cleaning product and you're set to mop.

The i5+ uses iRobot OS, which means it gets smarter as you use it. It can learn your floorplan by creating a Smart Map that remembers room names and your specific cleaning preferences. You can then instruct it to clean a room or set a schedule for the entire area of your home using the iRobot app.

iRobot has built in the ability to recognise household clutter, including cords, shoes, toys and bags. It will then automatically pause and return to its base to dock, allowing it to recharge and finish the cleaning job at a later date. It is compatible with voice commands like Amazon Alexa and Apple Siri, and understands approximately 600 voice commands. This is more than any other 2-in-1 robot vacuum with mapping.

Its patented Mopping Drive System applies pressure to the floor to give it a deeper clean and removes tough stains. It also gets under furniture and into tight spaces for a more thorough cleaning. The Combo J5+ is compatible with the iRobot Clean Base for automatic dirt removal.

It will also stay clear of shoes, socks, and litter boxes. With the iRobot app, you can schedule your home's cleaning schedule and manage your robot from any location.

The iRobot Combo i3 is an upgraded version of the original Roomba i3. It comes with the same external dirt compartment as well as it also has a HEPA filter to snuff out allergens however, it now supports smart mapping. You can now create no-go areas to prevent the vacuum from vaccuming these areas again. The i3 Plus still has a bunch of other excellent features, including its advanced cleaning system that has a 10x power-lifting suction and a three-stage cleaning process. It also features a textured exterior to ward off dust, fingerprints and pet hair.

It performs well on bare floors and is able to clean the majority of debris however it had trouble with pet hair on low pile carpets. It is quieter and does a great job on carpets with a high pile. The i3 costs a bit more than the Roborock S4 Max, but it comes with a self-emptying mechanism that cleans the mop pads and replenishes the water reservoir.

Contrary to other robot vacuums, the Combo i1 can retract its mophead completely to the top of the robot when it detects carpet. This lets it vacuum and then wipe the carpet clean with its microfiber cleaning cloths making sure that all surfaces are spot-free. It has a full suite of sensors and impressive navigation capabilities to stay clear of obstacles such as furniture and cords.

It also has a higher battery that will keep it running for longer, and an automatic self-emptying mode that will reduce the frequency of emptying its dustbin.
